Montessori teaching focuses on fostering children’s self-development in a respectful way and on implementing practical aspects of the classroom—an approach that currently attracts many parents and professionals worldwide. Some of the reasons for enrolling in this course include:
The Master’s course for AMI Montessori Guide (6 to 12 years) is designed to provide a thorough understanding of the theory and practice of the Montessori principles in elementary education, with the aim of helping children develop and adapt to society. The course covers all areas of the curriculum, which in Montessori education are far more extensive than those found in traditional education. These areas include philosophy, psychology, and the content of the various fields of knowledge, along with their materials and teaching-learning activities. The course methodology includes theoretical classes, practical sessions with the materials, observations, and teaching practice in Montessori schools.
The proposed course format includes the Foundation course for the 3 to 6-year level. All theory and practice topics related to the 3 to 6-year level will be integrated throughout the program. We aim to connect these topics as we work on the issues of the 6 to 12-year level. To achieve this, we have the collaboration of an AMI 3–6 trainer. These subjects cannot be validated separately, as they form an integral part of the overall curriculum.
The calendar and schedule for this course are designed for teachers and other professionals who seek the best Montessori training. This format combines self-learning and flexible hours with live online and on-site meetings.
On-site meetings are essential in AMI courses to ensure quality and consistency in learning. These sessions foster community, encourage collaboration, and guarantee proper supervision during practice with the materials. The course begins with two on-site weeks, during which the theoretical and practical foundations of Montessori and the learning dynamics of the program are established. In these two weeks, we will also review essential knowledge of the 3 to 6-year stage and begin hands-on practice with the materials.
In total, there will be three four-week face-to-face modules in August 2026 and 2027, and three weeks in 2028. The first two modules will be preceded by a week of synchronous online classes. Between summer sessions, the calendar includes some synchronous online classes on Mondays from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., as well as recorded lessons for asynchronous study.
Please note that session scripts with basic information will be provided, but students must create their own descriptions for most of the content. It is recommended that students practice with the materials presented in a location accessible to them between summer sessions. If students do not have access to a Montessori classroom or materials, they may use simulated materials that can be shared. The prepared environment in Girona will also be available year-round for those who wish to practice there, with prior permission and coordination with the MIRTC staff.
During these months between summer modules, students must also complete three weeks of observation in a Montessori school, followed by four weeks of practice in a school with an AMI Montessori guide.
A student handbook will be provided at the beginning of the course, detailing the course specifications and procedures.
